Character Info

Character's Name: Yuuya Sakazaki
Character's Canon: Hatoful Boyfriend
Character's Age: 17
Canon Point: After the discussion with Hiyoko on November 10th, in which he leaves St. Pigeonations.
Background/History: link

Strengths:

Yuuya Sakazaki always attempts to be the birdie everybirdie wants to be. While some of it is part of a crafted image, a lot of his apparent strengths are still his own.

He projects an image of utmost confidence. He delivers line after line without so much as a stutter (the only exception being once, when he was being shot at). He’s a self-proclaimed ladies’ bird and reaps the rewards of popularity. Part of this is posturing, a defense mechanism so that it’s difficult for the doctor to make him disappear but he does seem to enjoy being personable and spending time with the game’s protagonist. Even when he’s on-duty as a Dove Party operative he’s cheery and flirty and wants to act like a cool guy. In the balance of the things he does to avoid disappearing, his confidence and bright personality seem to be sincere.

Also helping him avoid the doctor’s cleaver is his quick-wittedness. When he gets put into a stressful or harmful situation, his first instinct is to start looking for solutions. He realized that his father was most likely killed to make his mother available and looked for some way to save his little brother. He dances around Doctor Iwamine at school, only failing when Hiyoko doesn’t lie for him. He’s even capable of quickly accepting strange or supernatural events (partially due to the weird nature of the canon) and adapting. In the Holiday Star story, for example, Yuuya is able to reason out the rules of a strange dreamscape while attempting his rescue mission.

While he does tend to work alone in the main story of the game, Yuuya also shows a lot of loyalty and ability to work with others. This was likely instilled in his by his training with the Dove Party and his superior agent, Leone J.B. (the Bright and Massive to Yuuya’s Sexy and Suave). He can even work together with someone he doesn’t trust, like school doctor and local sociopath Shuu Iwamine. He goes so far as to make a deal with Shuu and holds to that deal until the doctor breaks it first. There’s a degree of honor among liars there that only intensifies when he’s working with someone he actually cares for. His loyalty to his brother, Leone, or the protagonist is unwavering and he’ll do anything in both the positive and negative senses of the word.

A lot of Yuuya’s traits hold some duality and, with the correct spin, could be viewed as both his strengths and his failings.

Weaknesses:

While Yuuya projects an image of confidence and relies on his strong points to carry him through tough situations, the truth is more complicated.

Yuuya is a liar. Yuuya spins lie after lie without so much as a twinge on his face. He lies so often that he can pepper in the unbelievable truth (like telling Hiyoko she could get dismembered for being around him) and not have it register at all. That dishonesty is built deep into him from his work as a spy and from lying about his brother’s egg at the very beginning of his life. When he gets caught in lies, he tends to accept it.

He tends to just accept a lot of things in his life. For being someone so action and plan-oriented, he’s remarkably fatalistic. He’s accepted that his younger brother hates him and makes no moves to change it. The protagonist usually has to arrange situations where they connect and Yuuya’s happy to just be yelled at. At lot of this manifests from his guilt at smashing the Le Bel egg. After all, if he accepts that he’s a murderer, he must also accept that he doesn’t deserve good things. He can’t even say he did it to save his brother. Some part of him wonders if he didn’t switch the eggs and smash them just to spite his new father.

Finally, he’s not as decisive as he’d ever like to be. He was able to commit the crime to save his brother but lets it haunt him for the rest of his life. He considers telling Sakuya the truth about their relationship but, even in a life-threatening situation, has trouble telling him. He’s hesitant, or even afraid, to let that information slip and that ends up with him being blackmailed. Under the influence of blackmail, in an alternate route, he even allows himself to be accomplish to a human body’s mutilation just because he goes along with the situation. He almost dies because of it.

He would spin these traits as being mysterious, enduring, and cautious but in reality they’re hindrances and he knows it. Still, they’re not necessarily things he would try to improve due to point two above.

Powers/Abilities:
• Can fly, considering he has wings.
• Can use and fire an anti-material rifle, despite having wings.
• Is capable of hacking high-level intelligence systems due to his training as an agent of the Dove Party.
• Is described by the protagonist as "ripped," although considering he is still a pigeon, it's hard to tell what approximate physical strength this equates to.

Other Noteworthy Traits: Yuuya Sakazaki is a large, super-intelligent pigeon. Everything he does is somehow done with wings instead of hands because Hatoful Boyfriend is just like that.

Considering the nature of the game and inspiration drawn from folk tales and fairy tales, Yuuya's feathery nature should be able to be waved away as weirdness. He has a "human" form (canonly described as an approximation of what he'd look like as a human) that may be used for events or ooc memes but the majority of the time he will be a bird.

Weapons & Other Special Inventory:
• On-person: One pair of glasses with fake lenses, his yellow-orange tie, a bird wallet with various bird things in it.
• Special inventory: One (1) Anti-material rifle to be used only on occasions that are very, very funny and not to metagame.

Color: Yellow (if possible, #ECAA54). It's the color of his glasses and tie, and reflects the fact that he openly presents a very flippant and lackadaisical attitude. He would want to be grouped with yellow and the aspects do mesh well enough with the surface level of his personality.

Sample: tdm toplevel

World Aspect: Having highly intelligent birds may go against the aspect of Awash having no NPC characters but throwing in a variety of pigeons and partridges would certainly make him feel more at home (or slightly like a human surrounded by multitudes of nonsentient humans).

YUUYA SAKAZAKI

Canonpoint: BBL Route, before Sakuya confronts Dr. Iwamine
Age: Approximately 18 in Human Years
Wish: "Please, let me keep my brother safe."
Result: Sakuya Le Bel Shirogane survived the events of BBL, but learned the truth about his heritage. He was left without his strong foundation and without the mongrel brother who was always secretly supporting him.
Weapon: Anti-material Rifle
Outfit: It's very golden and elaborate. Also, please keep in mind, while his civilian form is humanized, he is a four-foot tall pigeon when in magi form.

Powers

» SUAVE TRACKING -
Information is one of Yuuya's fortes, so protecting someone involves keeping tabs on them. Yuuya is able to "track" an individual using his passive power. This person must be consciously chosen by Yuuya and he must anticipate danger. He cannot track people for his personal amusement unless he convinces himself there must be an upcoming event that will endanger them. (ex. A person who says they will be going to the zoo later can be tracked if Yuuya reasons they could fall into a tiger pit.)

He can only track the person's location, with no understanding of their current state. The tracking is directional ("as the dove flies"), so if Yuuya is unfamiliar with the area he can take a while to reach his target, despite knowing their location. Yuuya loses track of the individual if they enter a Nightmarescape, although he can maintain a brief understanding of where they entered it (for up to a hour after).

He's limited to one tracking target per day and loses track of them if he doesn't think about them in a period of two hours. This places the burden of protecting someone entirely on his shoulders: he knows where the person is and he needs to be the one to do it.

Permission Post for SUAVE TRACKING is here.

» SEXY AEGIS -
In order to serve as a "protector," Yuuya's magical girl form (which is also his original fantail pigeon form) has the power to turn parts of his body into "unbreakable objects." Rather that using a direct shield, he uses his own body as such.

This has the visual appearance of coating bits of his body in what appears to be gold, but is a much, much stronger substance. He can transform an area as small as just his beak or as wide as his own body. While his body parts are transformed he cannot actually move them. So, if he transformed his whole body, he would be temporarily paralyzed until he undid the effect. This requires precision and planning, so he simply can't run around while nigh-invulnerable.

This also ties into the selfish angle of his wish. Rather than guaranteeing the safety of his target, it gives him the power to. He will not always have the ability to. The relatively immobility of his power also ties to how he felt making it- trapped and cornered by his own actions.

Other characters currently played: n/a

Character name: Yuuya Sakazaki
Age: No age is given, but as a third-year in Pigeon High School his approximate human age would be 17 or 18.
Canon: Hatoful Boyfriend
Canonpoint: During the BBL route, before Sakuya confronts Dr. Iwamine.

Background:
Yuuya Sakazaki @ Hatoful Wiki
Details of BBL Route, including Hatoful Earth details
note: Yuuya will be in his humanized form for the daily life of Nyoi-cho, his magi form will be of the original fantail pigeon variety. Canon is unclear but manga references place the height of a Hatoful-world pigeon at ~4 feet tall.

Personality:
Being a pigeon does not impede Yuuya from having a deep, complicated personality that he takes great strides to hide.

On the outside, he's completely nonchalant. He's got a heart made of used tires that is completely impervious to damage. Only once or twice over the course of the main game does the carefree mask drop. When he shows moments of insight or seriousness, characters are surprised. He likes to joke and flirt. He speaks fancifully and doesn't seem to be bothered by anything. This front has made him very popular, and it's not entirely fake. It is the kind of face Yuuya wants to put forward- even if it is technically a self-defense mechanism so a crazy partridge doesn't roast and serve him for lunch.

However, it is a face he can take on and put off. Many of his ridiculous comments are quickly followed with an "Anyways," and it's down to business. He is, after all, only at Pigeonations for business. His classmates note that Yuuya doesn't even show up to class sometimes. The only people Yuuya really gets to know are Hiyoko, the Doctor, and his brother Sakuya.

Another hidden side to Yuuya is the guilt he carrying for, essentially, murdering the Le Bel child. Alongside being a teenage spy and avoiding meaty death, he's had to consider the fact that he and Sakuya are 100% blood brothers. His motivations for the deed were mixed. On one level, it was tender brotherly love and wishing his brother would have a better life ("The new father hates me, but he will love my brother."). There is, however, another level where Yuuya wonders if he didn't just do it to spite his "new" father.

That said, he does care deeply for Sakuya. He makes a few attempts to connect with his brother, and takes the verbal abuse with minimal complaint. Sakuya's harsh words do lead him to keep his distance. Then, only through Hiyoko can Sakuya hold conversations with his brother- conversations that leave him feeling very pleased. He doesn't expect Sakuya to ever accept him, and never expects to be forgiven for what he did to the Le Bel child.

Yuuya's guilt over his actions means he tends to have a very low self-image. For all his preening and posturing, he occasionally says things in a "self-deriding, or maybe even despairing way." These little slips only happen around the people he cares about, namely Hiyoko and his brother. At the same time, he doesn't try to run from those feelings. Some people might view this as brave but it is also a manifestation of Yuuya's own selfishness. In the Holiday Star story, when the mysterious King offers to take away Yuuya's hurt and guilt he nearly immediately refuses. His hurt, his guilt, they're all his and he refuses to let anyone take it away from him.

Yuuya says that mystery is the greatest aphrodisiac. He does, without a doubt surround himself in mysteries. He stays emotionally distant from situations. His poker face only breaks when he's being shot at. He carries his dark secrets with them, holding them as solely his responsibility. When he does speak the truth, it's either half-truths, or said in the most lighthearted tone. Once or twice he tells Hiyoko the exact truth of a situation- that staying around him could get her killed, that he's been spying on the rich elite at fancy parties- then plays it off as a joke. His greatest strength as a pigeon spy is the fact he's, dare I say it, unflappable.

Wish:
"Please, let me keep my brother safe."

Yuuya has protected his brother since nearly the moment of his birth. Not directly, as they've been separated since his brother hatched, but Yuuya is the direct cause of Sakuya's happy life. When his mother re-married, they were told to get rid of his unhatched brother. His mother was saddened by this, so he said he would do it instead. But he lied and hid the egg within the Le Bel home. When a legitimate Le Bel heir was born, he swapped the eggs. His brother would be raised as a pampered noble bird while Yuuya shouldered the guilt of murdering the other child.

With the two of them at St. Pigeonations, Yuuya thought he couldn't be happier, to once again be allowed near his brother. Never accepted, maybe, but near was close enough. Then Hiyoko Tosaka died. Her death shattered the peaceful school life of St. Pigeonations, leading to a mass lockdown with a grisly fate at the end. Yuuya found himself an accomplice. Although neither he nor Dr. Shuu Iwamine directly killed Hiyoko, Yuuya was enlisted to chop up her body and distribute them in the school's print boxes. Dr. Iwamine had figured out that he and Sakuya Le Bel Shirogane were more than just half brothers. Knowing the information would lead to Sakuya being disowned, his hands were tied.

As their familiar school grew more and more warped, he began to worry more. Shuu Iwamine was not a person to trust, he knew that much from working with him. He grew desperate. He formed his contract.

He was not able to protect Sakuya from his own identity. The cost of saving him was at least that piece of information. Sakuya Le Bel Shirogane would survive the Pigeonations lockdown. He would no longer have his noble name. He would no longer have his devoted brother. For masquerading as a selfless wish, the satisfaction of making it went only to Yuuya Sakazaki. That sort of thing is normal, one supposes.

Passive ability:

Active ability:
In order to serve as a "protector," Yuuya's magical girl form (which is also his original fantail pigeon form) has the power to turn parts of his body into "unbreakable objects." Rather that using a direct shield, he uses his own body as such.

This has the visual appearance of coating bits of his body in what appears to be gold, but is a much, much stronger substance. Weapon:
Yuuya's weapon is an anti-material rifle. Covering fire is a legitimate form of protection but also causes him problems. In order to effectively use his weapon he needs distance between himself and his target. In order to use his active ability, he needs to be immediately close. The whole issue is a contradiction, much like saving someone by abandoning them.

Character Information
Name: Yuuya Sakazaki
Canon: Hatoful Boyfriend
Canon Point: After the discussion with Hiyoko on November 10th.
Age: It's unspecified, but he's a third-year in high school. Since his birthday is in April, his human form would be about 18.
Gender: Male
History:
Somewhere in the 2100s (the game takes place in 2188), Avian flu went crazy and mutated into highly lethal strains. Humans attempted to create a biological weapon against the infected birds, but the compound instead made them super smart. Now humans are the minority species.

Yuuya had a relatively normal life: until his mother caught the eye of the head of the noble Le Bel family. The nobleman had Yuuya's father killed in order to take his mother. Yuuya's mother gently explained that Mr. Le Bel could only take care of Yuuya- not his egg-encased blood brother. Yuuya told his mother he understood, and offered to take the egg away. That was, of course, a lie. Yuuya kept the egg within the Le Bel family premises, speaking with it every day, waiting for an opportunity. Finally, it came. His mother and Mr. Le Bel had an egg. He switched his brother's egg with the Le Bel child's. He smashed the other egg.

So, Yuuya and his brother grew up in separate worlds. His brother grew up as the haughty Sakuya Le Bel Shirogane, while Yuuya made due with being Yuuya Sakazaki. The next period of Yuuya's life is a bit blurry. At some point he joined the Dove Party- a secret political faction that advocated a peaceful co-existence with the remaining humans. He became a "master of unauthorized access," and a peerless information gatherer. When the Dove Party suspected fowl play from the Hawk Party (who don't advocate co-existence at all) within the illustrious academy of St. Pigeonations, they sent Yuuya as an operative.

Yuuya worked in the infirmary, keeping a close eye on the purported Hawk party agent, Dr. Shuu Iwamine. In order to keep himself from "going missing," he held a large school presence. He knew everybirdie and everybirdie knew him. He was a trend-setter, a ladies' man, a studmuffin! Because he was so prominent, and a useful assistant to Dr. Iwamine, he managed to avoid going missing.

However, events were set in motion by the presence of Hiyoko Tosaka. Her joining the infirmary committee added a third person to the situation. Without the presence of Hiyoko Tosaka, Yuuya would surely have died. Dr. Iwamine suspected Yuuya of rummaging through his things for information. In a sense, they were playing with their cards up- since they both suspected each other of being the Dove or Hawk party's agent. Hiyoko falsified an alibi for Yuuya- that they were just taking a Sexy and Luxurious sunbath, so there was no way Yuuya had time to look through the Doctor's desk. Without proper evidence, Yuuya escaped dissection.

From that point on, Yuuya began to display some rather worrying traits. After splitting from Hiyoko at the Summer Festival, he narrowly escaped being shot. Hiyoko found him rummaging in garbage cans. She witnessed his "odd" friendship with Mr. One (secretly a Dove Party S-Class Agent LEONE J.B.). When she went to ask him for career advice, he was rather blunt. He told her that hanging around him was dangerous. And she could get shot, stabbed, buried alive, or any number of things. Then he told her he would soon disappear from the school, and gave her a hint to his true identity.

"You know the rumors that missing students end up as meat in the cafeteria, and quill pens in the shop? [...] Why do you think I'm so forward, mon amie? And why do you think I work in the infirmary? Live an honest, happy life. Adieu!"

And so Yuuya stopped attending St. Pigeonations.
Little did he know fate had another mysterious academy in store for him.

Personality:
Being a pigeon does not impede Yuuya from having a deep, complicated personality that he takes great strides to hide.

Abilities Information
Fighter or Sacrifice?: Fighter. Yuuya is more adapted to taking orders than giving them. He works as an agent of the Dove Party, and in the Hurtful Scenario he was easily blackmailed into committing horrendous acts. He's a follower more than a leader.
Canon abilities: Yuuya is a master of unauthorized access, peerless information gatherer, and super secret agent. He can hack a high-level security system in minutes. He is also a pigeon (and, according to Hiyoko, totally ripped!).

First Person:
[Yuuya appears, sitting at his computer desk. He looks perfectly half-put together, with his hair artfully made to look natural. His glasses sit at the very edge of his nose, serving no purpose but to look good. He smiles easily, raising his hand in a salute to the network.]

Salutations, Gora!

I must say, there are some things about this body I find rather convenient. It's not hard to see why humans were a dominant species so long! Now that I've got a handle on these fingers, I can do all sorts of delicate work. [He holds up his hands in front of them, idly flexing his fingers back and forth while he speaks.] It would be so much easier to bandage a wound or work on a computer... There are also some other delicate jobs, if any of the young flowers of the school are interested... [His expression is a light-hearted smirk.] I'd give more details, but I'd hate to make your cheeks gain rosy color. In private, girls, some other time, ahaha! [He lowers his hands, still quite amused at his own comments. He salutes again.]

Adieu!
[And the feed clicks off.]

Third Person:
Many parts of being human were difficult to grasp. Not impossible, thought Yuuya Sakazaki, merely difficult. Thankfully, there was one thing that came as second nature:

"Salutations, flowers of Gora!"
His walk was still a bit bow-legged, he preferred his beans uncooked, and his showers involved liberal fluffing on non-existent feathers... but when it came to flirting, he fit in entirely. He greeted a group of girls with ears and tails all at attention. Thankfully, he was still considered attractive as a human. It gave him that little extra edge in conversation with ladies and men of that persuasion.

"Ahaha, I must say, I still get a little nervous around you girls," he ceded while running a hand through his hair. "I see those ears of yours and can't help but wonder if you'll eat me alive." The girls giggled and twittered. Yuuya had to carefully pick his mysteries upon showing up at the human-dominated Gora. In the end, admitting he was formerly a bird only made him seem unintimidating. He understood the value of not appearing to be a threat. Besides, the girls don't really seem to care what species he was before. He smiled and took one by the hand.

"Although, mon amie, I must say... if you should like to snack on me, you're more than welcome." He kisses her hand. Lips were another strange thing. They were soft, and inviting, and he can plainly see why humans were so obsessed with pressing them against one another. Much more useful than a beak for wooing humans. The girls squeal.

"Yuuya, will you come to karaoke with me?"

"No, Yuuya's going to see a movie with me!"

"No way! Sakazaki-senpai would rather d-do something sophisticated!"

He smiled as the brief fight broke out. It was a good image so far. He was satisfied with this. Now to let them down gently without hurting them.

"I'm sorry, my darlings, but I have some very important work to get to. Perhaps, come this weekend, we can spend some more... quality time together?" He winked. "But, until then, I must say adieu. Adieu!" As quickly as he came upon the group, he was gone. Where was he bound? Well, he could try to enable the internet, he could search for information about Septimal Moon... or he could simply spend the afternoon figuring out how human males managed to sit so comfortably with that organ dangling between their legs. Yes, that last one seemed like the safest bet for now.

Anything Else?
Yuuya will be, of course, in a human body for Gora. The glasses do nothing, he just likes them. He may or may not bob his head while he walks.
